Bungō to Alchemist Game Inspires Stage Play in February

The official website for DMM Games' Bungō to Alchemist game announced on Thursday that the game is inspiring a stage play adaptation titled Bungō to Alchemist Yokeimono no Elegy. The play will run at Theatre 1010 in Tokyo from February 21-28 and at Kyoto Gekijō in Kyoto from March 9-10.
The cast includes:
- Ryō Hirano (seen in visual above) as Osamu Dazai
- Shō Jinnai as Sakunosuke Oda
- Ryōtarō Kosaka as Ango Sakaguchi
- Kōji Kominami as Haruo Satō
- Taiga Fukazawa as Chūya Nakahara
- Yoshiki Tani as Naoya Shiga
- Taishi Sugie as Saneatsu Mushanokōji
- Shinichi Wagō as Hidetoshi Kubota
Kōtarō Yoshitani (The Royal Tutor, STARMYU stage musicals) is directing the play, and Yūsei Naruse (Hitorijime My Hero anime, Hetalia stage musicals) is writing the script. The game's composer Hideko Sakamoto (NoixyCroak) is returning to compose the music with tak. MAMORU is in charge of choreography, and Hideaki Okuzumi (T.P.O. office) is in charge of the action.
In the original simulation game, players become special librarians who join forces with reborn literary figures. They fight together to protect literature from forces that corrode it.
The online browser game launched in November 2016, followed by a smartphone app for iOS and Android devices in June 2017. The game has also inspired soundtrack and line reading CDs, "anthology comics," and other print publications.
