Fate Franchise Studio's Ohenro Girls Promote Coca-Cola

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Soft drink giant Coca-Cola teamed up with anime studio ufotable to create specialty packaging that promotes both the soda drink and the studio's tourism-focused anime series. The three main characters of ufotable's Ohenro pilgrimage anime series are starring front and center on Coca-Cola bottles in Japan.

The anime follows girls Megumi, Mao, and Chiwa as they embark on the Shikoku pilgrimage, traditionally done by foot to eighty-eight Buddhist temples. The packaging artwork shows the three girls standing in front of the Onaruto Bridge, which connects the island of Shikoku with Japan's main island of Honshu.

The bottles aren't just limited to within Japan, but to the island of Shikoku itself. Coca-cola pilgrims can pick up a bottle at JR Tokushima Station and Tokushima Awaodori Airport, among other places throughout the island. ufotable also produced advertisement images featuring the three characters.

The original Ohenro anime ran for 44 episodes from May 2014-March 2015. ufotable announced second season in October. The studio is releasing the series' first season as limited DVDs. The final DVD focusing on Kagawa prefecture is slated for release on May 14.
