Cute Godzilla Humidifier Shoots Atomic Breath, Roars

You can now furnish your home with a humidifier modeled after the king of the monsters. The "Humidifier King Godzilla," created by the Japanese toy maker Shine, uses an LED light to create the legendary kaiju's blue atomic breath and is loaded with music from the Godzilla films and Godzilla's roar.

The humidifier is a chibi version of Godzilla from the 1992 film Godzilla vs. Mothra, which has a life-size head menacing the Shinjuku Gracery Hotel in Shinjuku and is affectionately nicknamed "BatoGoji" by the Japanese fandom.

Prolific illustrator and monster designer Shinji Nishikawa — who worked on the majority of the Heisei and Millenium Godzilla films including Godzilla vs. Biollante, Godzilla vs. Mothra, Godzilla vs. Destoroyah, Godzilla: Final Wars, and more — is drawing the item's package art. Nishikawa has also worked on multiple Ultraman shows, including the 2016 live-action show Ultraman Orb.

The Godzilla humidifier is priced at 7,538 yen (about US$70) with tax included. Reservations are currently being accepted on the Godzilla Store website. The humidifier will ship on November 17 to commemorate the release of the first installment in the upcoming Godzilla anime film trilogy, titled Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters (Godzilla: Kaijū Wakusei).

Kobun Shizuno (Detective Conan: The Darkest Nightmare and other Detective Conan movies, Fist of the North Star: The Legend of Kenshirô, Fist of the North Star: The Legend of Toki) and Hiroyuki Seshita (Ajin, Knights of Sidonia) are directing the films at Polygon Pictures, with a story concept and screenplay by Gen Urobuchi (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Fate/Zero, Psycho-Pass) of Nitroplus. The film will premiere in Japan on November 17 and will stream globally on the Netflix service this year.
