Ys VIII Localization Patch Will Feature 'Nearly 100%' Rerecorded Lines
posted on by Karen Ressler
NIS America posted an update on its blog regarding the localization patch for its Ys VIII PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita game on Thursday. The post reveals that the staff have rewritten "nearly 100%" of the script and will be "re-recording nearly everything" with the same cast. Battle lines and some incidentals will remain from the first recording.
The free patch is under development to address concerns regarding the localization quality of the game. NIS America president and CEO Takuro Yamashita previously apologized for quality that "has not reached an acceptable level." Yamashita also noted that the company is investigating the causes of the issues with the initial localization so that "a similar situation does not occur again."
The patch is slated for early 2018 after a delay.
Nihon Falcom released the game in Japan on May 25 and NIS America released the game for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita on September 12 in North America and September 15 in Europe. The game will also get a PC release but it has been delayed to coincide with the release of the patch.
