Speak up if you skipped right to the end to see the teaser. Because that was the only thing that mattered.

Put the original Dante design as a playable character and I'll buy it. Otherwise, I'm not the least bit interested.

Still won't make the game any better for older devil may cry fans (and no, it's not just the hair)

I mean it's the same game but just at a higher resolution and all the dlc granted I already beat the game and got the platinum trophy including Vergil's descent 100% so for me this is a no-buy because I still have the data on it so it would hold no meaning for me to have it again just to get the same trophies.

As a side note I consider myself as one of the few who had no overall complaints against the game even with the aesthetic and cosmetic changes to Dante, his background, and the environment.

I heard reports that the Definitive edition of DmC is censored of some of the more 'problematic' content like sexism to make it more PC. While I don't care for the game, it's worth pointing out for those that do.

Considering how vile the script could get, that's more of a plus. Still doesn't fix the game's plot since it still reads like puerile junk filtered through the brain of the world's most insufferable teenager.

Vergil! Yesss DMC4 I await your arrival!
What was that bullshit before it? Couldn't care less... The ratio of video time should have been swapped.

There is a DMC3 Skin and a DMC1 Skin in the game.

It wasn't censored. Please learn how to use words. No one, no governmental body, no company, no whatever forced them to change anything. Stop trying to be Fox News with your clearly biased views of people's views on the "sexism" debate and manipulation of words. Ninja Theory themselves thought for whatever reason some of the lines were in poor taste and went back and changed it. It was thier own choice. No censorship or whatever hot button word you chose to warp the message.

It also is'nt the same game as they've made fixes and added new mechanics. Sure these mechanics such as manual lock on should have been there since the begining but whatever.

Still, I probably won't get this. It was a perfectly fine game, a decent action game even. It just lacks something that other DMC games have and yes the story was crap without the self aware humor of 4 which at least helped that games stupid story.

While he inflated the issue, it is still a concern of sorts that they made the choice to self-censor or edit their own work for this "definitive edition".

Aside from not offering some sort of warning notice and option to skip/pick like the No Russian Airport massacre (which you don't need to shoot during even you do pick to play it iirc) in COD: Modern Warfare 2, they haven't left an uncut version on the same disc (to my knowledge - please correct me if I'm wrong).

A deliberate choice from the creator doesn't change that a definitive edition lacking something from a release 2 years ago (both had the same rating and publisher) reeks of something. Haphazard cuts without regard for people who may want everything at the very least.

Here is an article linking to their response: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/sexually-suggestive-dialogue-removed-for-dmc-devil/1100-6425799/

I suppose editing for pacing's sake is closer to removing sexual themes (as GameSpot titled it) given what is still left in the game, but I'd only accept the cuts with a shrug if it wasn't mostly using old assets (if it was a remake, it would be fine).

Otherwise, yeah, they did step up the game's modes and mechanics a great deal but I'm probably not getting it any time soon either.

Censorship doesn't have to be done by a government body. Games are censored all the time without a law requiring them to be so. Nintendo removing a bikini shot from Fire Emblem Awakening is still the game being censored. An anime dub which has content removed is no less called censored. If you're focusing on censorship being done specifically by the government, you're missing the forest for the trees..

Stating a company imposed self-censoring is an issue of semantics either way. Considering how big of an issue sex is in Americna gaming right now, it's not farfetched at all to suggust they could have censored this out of peer pressure from groups or simply trying to earn brownie points.

well actually...yes. The definition of censorship means it is being examined by an official body. It dosen't have to be government body, but it must actually be done by some sort of official body and done out of anything but creative opinion.

It's like you can't read.

Um I pretty much stated that no outside party forced this to happen. Which is what censorship has to have. It has to have an outside party deeming it is'nt appropriate. By definition it can not be the actual creators. So by definition, this is'nt censorship.

You're examples are poor and incorrect. Each of those has a party outside of the actual creators coming in a deeming the content in-appropriate for the market they are releasing it in. Which is completely unlike the situation here. The creators themselves decided to change it because they did'nt like it. It wasn't Capcom or anyone coming in a deeming it inappropriate. Capcom didn't care the first time. It was a choice solely done by Ninja Theory.

Your point is wrong.

And this is all very biased conjecture with no backing to it. Yes, thank you for revealing your actual angle and point behind this entire argument. We get where you and people like Fedora are coming from, but next time actually know what censorship is before you attempt to warp an argument to better suit your view of how sex is treated in media.

Because self-censorship is different then actual censorship. Learn to use the terms correctly. though calling this self-censorship only works if you actually believe they changed it because they were afraid of some repercussions. Which only works if you reveal you're obvious bias. Which is why you 2 are here to begin with.

Yet, lets be honest. You and poster's like you use censorship because it's a strong term and it brings up images you in your disingenuous argument won't to convey. No one wants to say censorship is right, so when you and your buddies bring it up, you do so in order to create a wall around the argument that is hard to get through. Calling it censorship in this case is'nt correct, but you do so only because you want to help your argument of "OH NOES THE Shonen Jump Weekly ARE ATTACKING AND TAKING AWAY EVERYTHING" which is really the only reason you're here. It's not to really talk about censorship. It's to be self-serving to you're little agenda. You don't actually care about this game and before probably derided the game as another western game trying to be gritty for the sake of being gritty. Which is what the line was a product of and probably why it was taken out because it was a terribly written try hard line.

But of course you must twist this. No, it couldn't be that they took it out because they simply didn't like it. It has to be because "Shonen Jump Weekly and thier climate" forced them to or they just want to earn points. There can be no other reason for people like you and so you use terms like "censorship" freely and wrongly in order to legitimatize you're points even though the angle and bias point you people come from is as clear as day.

See, you couldn't even leave a thread for a game you don't care about a lone. You and Fedora had to come in here and make it about your anti Shonen Jump Weekly bs agenda. Why is Fedora in here? He dosen't care about this game(it's not Japanese). No he had to lead in with basically "oh look sex stuff is being suppressed! Only in America and because of Shonen Jump Weekly". That was his point. That is your guys shtick in pretty much every video game forum and it's annoying.
