I haven't read the manga yet, but the description in the review of the chapter on Six's repair reminds me of Ted Chiang's (author of the short story that became the film Arrival) expressed hope that we wouldn't create artificial intelligence because, along the way we'd create prototypes that were capable of consciousness and suffering (a notion he explores some in his story "The lifecycle of software objects").
So, I guess I should get going on the manga, because that chapter sounds like it explores some of the same themes. |
