Cute?! They look anything, but.
Cool, maybe, but god damn if those masculine faces with small eyes and sharp chins are somehow "cute". They are the exact opposite of that.

Almost like people can have different perspectives and opinions. I don't think their faces are masculine and I think they're cute.

They're definitely cute. They look like a cool/"kakkoii" type band likely to have a lot of fangirls who are totally not yuri for the band members, but aside from perhaps kuudere-looking Uiui at left, I don't see "masculine faces" at all. And in her case it's still a flavor of cute, one of my favorites actually. Love Kaoru Seta, Littorio from Azur Lane, best girl '94 Haruka Tenou, etc. (https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2016/11/03/survey-almost-35-years-of-japans-favorite-anime-leading-ladies)



Top: Plasmagica, middle: Reijinsignal, bottom: Mashumairesh. Reijinsignal are the ones who stand out among these as having "masculine faces with small eyes"? Really?

Yes, really. Though obviously the new main girls are also victim of that.
It's also obvious how you know this when you're purposedly using a far-shot from Plasmagica, because their designs were too round of for you to use in a comparison.
Believe me I'm not surprised there are a lot of fanGIRLS for this band, as definitely they appeal to them with their features instead of guys.
I guess it isn't unexpected for this show to completely target females with the new season instead of going for both audience.

I used the promo poster of each band. A promo poster, by necessity, must represent the look the producers/marketers want the characters to have in order to appeal to their target audience, whoever that may be.

I can't say I've ever heard such a complaint as "These moe characters aren't moe enough for me, therefore most guys *must* feel the way *I* do, therefore the characters must have been designed for girls" until now, so thanks for something new to peruse. Smile Extending this reasoning, it would seem that characters in Aikatsu and PreCure were designed for males, while Ghost in the Shell's Motoko was designed for females; anime eyes don't get much smaller than that.

(I mean unless you're talking about someone like Dr. Sado from Space Battleship Yamato, or Non Non Biyori's Kazuho who is never seen to open her eyes)

You can twist my words all you want, or use a strawman argument, fact is that these girls have little appeal to males, and it's obvious they are focusing on appealing to the female audience, while males definitely don't fall into the target audience this time, unlike the first seasons (or at least the very first), but that's maybe because they did a research and thought it's more profitable that way.
Anyways, the girls are not very cute, and this second band is outright anything, but.

And please don't try to move goalposts with what picture you used before, and don't play dumb, you nit picked a low quality, far-away shot of those two girls on purpose.

There's no way they would target female audience with just that. Their chance to pull female fans will be higher if they got rid all the girls and replace them with boys. It's not like the SB69 don't know their male bands' power.

So far we only have one guy band.

Nitpick: that's not what nitpick means. I used Google image search to find the highest quality version I could, and posted it at 100% scale. https://www.rightstufanime.com/Show-By-Rock-Blu-ray-DVD

Right now we're at a stalemate, but all you need to do is wait until the show comes out next month. If it overwhelmingly gets reactions from males saying the new girls aren't cute enough, then you will have won.

You're right.
But let's not forget to look at the female/male ratio, I'd be surprised if they could keep the ratio as "high" as a youjo show like PreCure. Will be a definite, steep downfall on males' ratio.
Still like you said it, as long as we don't get numbers about the new series, what I'm saying can be written off as personal taste, so let's just wait.
