^ Actually, he survived that encounter... so, lucky in my book, because that girl's probably a demon in bed.

Yeah, I also want more of Aishela kicking ass. I love that line she say before battle: "Allow me to guide you to the afterlife." So cool and badass.
Anyway the show is decent enough to be watchable but the pacing really hurts the show. It feels like a highlight reel for the light novel fans. It's a bit of a shame because there's a lot of cool things about the show, but they're overshadowed by the bad pacing.

They are adapting ten, yes ten volumes for a 2cour show (24 episodes), this is no racket science that the anime pacing is abysmally fast.
Also, the light novel’s author IS the show’s series composition, I cannot think of a reason why would he do that to his own work

^ I'm guessing they told him, "We're giving you 24 episodes to tell your story." The author probably has some ending point in mind that he thinks would be best from a "complete story" perspective, and he's pushing the pace to reach that point, even at the expense of weakening the story overall. I *suppose* he feels that the completeness factor outweighs the comprehensiveness factor.
I agree, though, that it's a shame that everything is being rushed this way. This is like the opposite of what we're getting out of One Piece and some other current works and shows that too fast a pace is just as problematic as too slow a pace. I still intend to ride this series to it's conclusion, though. I just hope they do justice to Siluca's character, as she's the main reason I'm watching this.

I was very hyped for the show but I ended up dropping it because the pace didn't allow me to enjoy it.

Definitely in the drop category for me.
I completely agree that Theo is an idiot who'd go nowhere without SIluca, and while the show is somewhat aware of that it still tries to give him the good part (ie save Siluca from danger multiple time) which just kill it for me. You have this very interesting character (Siluca) who has to always get saved and eventually fall in love with a cardboard cutout because... otherwise it would go against the cliché overlord or something?
On top of that the pacing is atrocious, with character being introduce and killed almost immediately and for no reason (just don't adapt them if you're pressed for time) and entire battle happening off screen and instead recounted in "as you know" conversation.
Visually its also very meh, even the part when it's obvious the show is trying hard aren't that impressive and neither are fight choreography. Add in the pointless dripping terminology and you just get a sub par RPG show whose only real standout feature being not being an isekai show set in fantasy setting.

I seriously doubt they're adapting ten volumes. The novel series isn't finished yet, but going by the titles volume 6 is probably a good stopping point, which is vaguely reasonable.

This is an estimation based on the current pacing and where are they aim for the stopping point, currently all evidences suggest they are shooting for 10 volumes, if they are skipping these much of characterizations and main plots (yes, not side plots)
By the way, we are way past volume 3 already...this should not happen if we aim for 6 volumes

Eh, I'm honestly surprised I haven't dropped this show yet. It's all over the place, but damn it, the writing seems to have an endless supply of carrots on sticks to keep me interested. The only time I was really wowed by the show was episode 6 cause of the gothic atmosphere. That, and the unexpected dance scene between Villar and Margaret.

I kinda liked the series, but after several episodes, the pacing was just too blisteringly fast for me. Might give it another try once the series is complete, but as of right now that lightning-fast pacing is just too fast for me. Doesn't leave enough time for the show to let its salient points sit for a bit like they need to in order to connect properly.

I'd advise the authors of this article to either rewatch Lodoss or watch Overlord 2.

I dropped this show after two episodes. It's amazing how something so fast can be simultaneously so... boring. I did like Siluca though. She seemed like a good character.

Yikes, that's insane. I didn't realize we were that far in because there hasn't been a big huge climax since episode 4... I really hope someone can license the light novels now.

wait! so the same author that did IS also did grancrest war? that's interesting to say the least. it makes me wonder why the author didn't make this into a harem fest like IS!
